Let's get to the point, let's smoke another joint...

"Marin said he thinks dope humor can be as funny today as it was back in the '70s.
"I think it's time for a revival of dope jokes. It's a much bigger audience now, it's much more widespread and institutionalized," he said in an interview earlier this month."
This is a direct quote taken from a newsite about the reunion gig of Cheeech and Choong. Dope humor needs a comeback? There is a bigger audience?? Widespread? As in acceptable?? Are they f-ing kidding me?
Drugs are stronger, more prevalent, cheaper and more dangerous than ever before. So lets make it really funny and sound like its even funner to do because our kids don't already have enough peer pressure.
I just don't understand the world sometimes. I really don't.

I look at what he said this way:
When I was laughing my head off at C&C in the 70's/80's, it was funny cos I was young and stoned. I'd not find them so funny now, tho, if it were one of my kids stoned and laughing.

Hypocritical? Absolutely! But I'm allowed to be a hypocrite because my life had been a case study and, after over 20 years of using since I first laughed at Up In Smoke, I know the outcome. It was fugly ugly! But his claim to fame is stoner comedy. I can't begrudge him from trying to make a buck. And he can't begrudge me from teaching my kids that drugs are bad, thereby taking money away from him.

Well, I came across your site from visiting A Broken Hearted Mom. Just a couple of quick notes, I too am from LI. I moved away three years ago with my wife. I miss it. I am also perplexed why Billy Joel wasn't on your favorite music list. Any self respecting Long Islander would not over look something like that. Any way I enjoyed your blog and will adding ya to my roll, but only if you include BJ to your favorite music list.

I think that C & C are missing a lot of neurons. They can't help that they are dumb, stoned and hoping to make some $$. And my hope is that they are so old now that kids won't listen to them. I don't find drinking or drug jokes funny.

I'm kind of offended by all these doper/slacker guys in the movies, like Knocked Up etc. Like that lifestyle is just goofy/cute/harmless. Yuck. Very unattractive.

I never got what was funny about Cheech and Chong. I'm not sure I understood what marajuana was. I just thought they were a couple of morons. I'm serious. I kind of felt sorry for them (because I was a nice kid and thought people were making fun of them because they were retarded and thought that wasn't nice). I was very very naive.

I don't think kids today will find them funny.Their audience will be old stoners who never outgrew it. I don't think there is enough of them around to support a tour.

Anything can be funny if it's done right. Folks that say "anything can be funny except _____" annoy me, cause anything can be made fun of... just my opinion of course!

I do like reading ya, I'm about to become a mom at the end of this month and I'm an ex-drug addict (I don't believe in "recovering" either you are using drugs or you're not) so your blogs is very interesting to me. Found you through tori's blog...
