For our rise against the years and years and years....

I have been smoke free for 2 days, 11 hours, 39 minutes

And as a result:

My hair does not smell like cigarettes and neither does my clothing, my car, not to mention my 12 year old son.

I have saved approximately $20.

I am cranky and miserable but stronger than this.

I have not smoked approximately 77 cigarettes.

I have added an additional 14 hours to my life.
(Thanks for all of your support and suggestions)

It's not about living 3 more hrs(or 3 days,3 months, or 3 years if you keep it up). It's about living those 3 hrs standing up, instead of lying in a hospital bed with a breathing tube shoved down your throat.
You should try to replace it, at least the 1st couple weeks, with something harmless that keeps your hands busy. Like walking, knitting, or spying on your neighbors with binoculars.

Kel--
I'm so proud of you. Been trying to tell my son that nicotine is addictive, and of course it's all falling on deaf ears.
Awesome, kiddo! Call me - let's indulge in some caffeine.

Wow, I had no idea that smoking was such an expensive habit (not even counting in the long term health costs).

I'm so happy you are trying to quit. My grandfather, one of my favorite people ever, died due to every smoking complication you can get. He died at 67 in a very slow, ugly manner, puffing away with only half of each emphesema filled lung, dragging around his oxygen tank... that is, when he had any stamina to walk at all. He had lung cancer, but I think it was his heart, after the third or fourth bypass surgery, that did him in.

I hate cigarettes and the tobacco industry.

Hi. I have been hiding from the world for the past few months and decided to visit my fav's today. I wish you good luck with the not smoking. I have been trying again the past few months and it is a real "B" to do. I am not doing very well with it. I have no will power. Here's a fact that may help you, cigarette smoke contains among other things, cyanide. Let me know how you are doing.

Altough I just met you I am proud as well. I quit 9/11/05 after smoking for 32 years. Remember this, a craving for a cigarette will not last longer than 90 seconds. Of course the next one will come along but it will get easier. Much luck and congrats!
